Cannon PowerShot SD790 IS.

I took all the following images with my new Cannon PowerShot. I’m still getting used to the camera, but from what I have been able to capture, I think this is a nice, versatile, easy-to-use camera. My wish is that I had more control on the depth of field. Or maybe I do and I have not been able to manipulate it yet. The camera is very compact, light weight and has a 3.0″ LCD display. Handy when you are trying to view your images amidst a slew of tourist.

El Born area in Barcelona is perfect.

Lined with fashionable shops, cafes and small alleys, getting lost here should be a pleasure. As we walked around the winding alleys, we stumbled upon a great find, Ignasi Sole’s poster shop, Prohibido Fijar Carteles. Roughly translated as POST NO BILLS.

While Ignasi worked on his desk, we browsed through hundreds of amazing posters. Spain tourism posters, old Olympic games posters, old maps, bullfighting posters and so much more. If you get a chance, take a look at his website (oh yeah, it’s in Catalan); even better stop by his store.

I got the chance to buy a Spain Tourism poster. It’s a simple, elegant design with vivid colors. A nice addition to my poster collection.

Take a look at these other posters he has available. Enjoy.

I find this series of photos very interesting. It’s funny how often we take some of these signs for granted, letting them blend themselves into the every-day landscape. Photographer Matt Siber has captured something very familiar to us, yet extremely peculiar.

Thanks LOGO DESIGN LOVE for the post and much thanks to photographer Matt Siber for this unique look

Souscrivez pour hater la paix par la victoire.

While we were in Paris, we came across this poster in a open market on Port Vanves. A great find if you ask me. I’m still doing some research on it, but I think it’s an original litho from the period. Let’s hope so.

The artist is Paul Albert Besnard, a French painter working on watercolors, pastels, oil and etchings. This poster was designed, as so many other of its era, to enlist the French public to buy war bonds. The transaltion of the enscription is: 3rd National Defense Loan. Subscribe to hasten peace through victory.

We wanted to thank Ignasi for letting us know about the Port Vanves market. More to come on Iganasi and his “carteles” store in El Born, Bacelona. Fantastic.
