Milton Glaser receives The National Medal of Arts

March 2, 2010

Iconic graphic designer Milton Glaser was awarded the National Medal of Arts by President Obama on February 25th, 2010. Milton was the first designer to receive this honor. In addition to Milton, the recipients included Bob Dylan, Clint Eastwood, Maya Lin, Rita Moreno, Jessye Norman, Joseph P. Riley, Jr., Frank Stella, Michael Tilson Thomas, and John Williams. Pretty good company if you ask me. Click here to view the ceremony.

Some of the most famous works work done by Milton Glaser include the I *heart* NY logo, Dylan poster, Brooklyn Brewery ID package and many Philip Roth book covers. He, along with Seymour Chwast, Reynold Ruffins and Edward Sorel, were the founding members of the influential Push Pin Studios.
